I've had it. Three full years for some of you folks out there and you still have not upgraded your web browser. So bye, bye IE6— you are officially in the dust and off our radar. Good riddance. IE7 was launched in October 1996.
Most of our work is produced for the Internet and seen online through web browsers. Any website designer or developer that's been around a while knows about the differences between the popular browsers, Safari(Mac), Internet Explorer(Windows), and Firefox(Mac/Windows). I think Firefox is the best, I've been browsing and building sites since 1996. I also don't owe any allegience to Apple Computer either, although the majority or our stations are Mac, I've always thought that the application used was more important, and the Adobe industry standard applications work fine on both. But, if I were cornered, I would choose Mac in a second, they are just easier to use and far more comfortable. But let's get back to the subject.
IE6 was just laid to rest today—around here anyway. Occasionally, we hear a complaint that, "something doesn't look right in IE6". We have always been accomodating and no matter how painful or frustrating, found our way through the can of CSS worms to find that happy, yet weird, medium between all the browsers. We've broken up that fight on the playground for the last time, and IE6 has gone to that permanent detention. If you can't get along, after all this time, it's time for you to go.
I just wanted to get that out and date it for today (12/11/09) and now that I see it written on my screen, I think 2010 is going be off to a great start. Happy Holidays! (I hope you get a Mac ;-))
...or at least upgrade to IE7, for goodness sake...
